i just got a 1985 f150 302 efi 4sp 4x4 and i was sweating bullets wondering if it needs a smog pump or someone just removed the a/c. ???????
there are no ports for air inj on the exh manifolds and it has factory dual exhaust w/ cats.
any help would be appreciated

Looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle the smog pump is mounted lower left while the AC compressor is top right.


That is a HD truck thing, F150s got a tube across the back of the motor plumbed into ports in the heads.

There are no factory dual exhaust systems so if you have one it's not stock... but then it's a 25 year old truck so it's not surprising the factory exhaust is gone.

the alternator is on the lower left side..
and there is a pipe on the left coming from the rear of the block that not connected to anything ?
i dont know about ford smog stuff being a newbie to fords...
im a converted chevy man from like 25 years ago...

Pictures would help. The lower left, like mentioned, is the smog pump. I removed the belt from mine and haven't noticed any problems. So, I left it off. But, some pictures would show us what you are looking at if you can do that. Your 85 and my 86 are the same since they are both EFI. At least the same under the hood.

i know what a smog pump is i was wondering if im required / was factory installed on this model...

reason im askin when i lived in california (yes i can spell it)
i used to have to put on the air pump and crap on my 67 chevelle!
then take it off when i passed .....one of the reasons i left california.

i dint want take it to get insp then hear dude you need a whole smog set up
