Well after 4-5 years of no Ford, I'm back in Business. I just picked up an 05 F350 XLT Crew Cab, 4x4, DRW with only 77,500 miles (bone stock) for under 22k. Other than slight driver seat edge wear and one scratch on the RR door, it is like new. Clean Carfax and Oasis report. My wife and I flew from Nor Cal to San Diego on Saturday morning and drove it home almost 600 miles the same day.
The only problem I've found so far is the auto tensioner for the parking brake cable doesn't hold well. Most times it goes right to the floor without pulling the cable, but if you take it slow it will grab and hold until you push a bit harder and then it slips. When I get it to grab and not push it until it slips, it will hold the truck on a slight incline. Does anyone know of a repair for the tensioner or is it not serviceable?
I have the same problem. My mechanic says the cable is slipping and they can fix it for about $300. I'm thinking it's something I might be able to repair, especially if it just means replacing the cable and/or some misc. parts.
Roostonu,
Were you ever able to resolve the issue?

I haven't resolved the issue, but I have found the actuator for around $170. It replaces the pedal and tensioner assembly but is a bit buried under the dash. Looks like it would take about an hour to replace. One of these days I will get around to it, but I decided Recon smoked cab lights and dually fender lights were more important lol.
