FICM question

Two years ago I replaced the FICM on our '05 Excursion 6.0 with a reman one from Ford. I was in a time crunch and my shop has a wholesale account with the dealer. The X never ran bad but would intermittently throw the FICM code. Unbeknownst to me the alternator was failing and the batteries were low on voltage. The alternator was replaced with a DC Power unit and new batteries installed. The truck has ran fine since but takes 5-10 seconds of cranking to start. Did the reman FICM from Ford need to be programmed after installation?

If the FICM weren't programmed I don't think it would run. You likely have damaged the FICM running it with low voltage. You need to check the FICM main voltage, it needs to stay above 45 volts at all times from KOEO ( key on engine off ), cranking, idle and WOT ( wide open throttle ). There is a FICM test procedure in the tech folder, it is the 3rd link at the top of the forum. You also need some way of reading live data, like the scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like Dashboss for IOS devices or torque pro for android they are absolutely necessary in diagnosing these trucks.

I replaced the battery and alternator before the FICM. I have a Scangauge 2 and voltage is good. Just trying to track down this issue of it not starting right away. Thought maybe the replacement FICM should have been flashed or something. Once started, it runs great.

Sounds like you might have a high pressure oil leak developing. You need to find something to monitor the ICP pressure cranking.
