Truck is running great and trans seems to shift good. My question is, is there anyway to tell if the trans has been rebuilt? I only have history going back to about 290K. PO Changed fluid (Pry about due to be done again) and everything really works well. Has a big giant cooler on the front, and has never gotten above 180. Even when I towed a couple of weeks ago (CC F-150 on a car hauler)the temps didnt climb untill I slowed down. And still didn't get above 180. Usually averages about 130-140.
I just have a hard time beliving that its stock and has 358K. Not ruling it out, but based on what I have been reading it sounds unlikley.
So any way to tell if its been rebuilt? Just wondering. Thanks!
I would be impressed if it was original. I suppose its like anything treat it nice and it will last. With that big cooler on it (its 11"X12"X1"W, its a monster!) pry doesnt get the chance to get very warm. I plan on changing the fluid before it gets too cold out. Looked good when I checked it. I think its got synthetic in it. I'll have to look at the records I got with the truck. Just didn't know if there was a way to tell. Thanks for the responses!
Another question, what is normal operating temp for these transmissions?
Yeah it's never gotten above 180 since I've had it. Like I said even pulling it never got hot. Must be why it's lasting. It never gets hot. I know heat is the enemy of transmissions.
