For one thing, it's at a dealership. That usually means the price is increased about 75% from the start.
I would have expected that a "bumper-to-bumper" restoration would have replaced the cowl lacing ($9.95 at LMC). That would keep rain off the top of the engine. Then there wouldn't be puddles on the intake and rust on the air cleaner.

Well, at least he ripped ALL the old ugly broken stuff out!!!
my dad looked at the truck on saturday and he agrees with the rest of us. he said its really nice and straight as an arrow but the guys trying to get back every dollar he put into it
Well you usually don;t get your money back in time and parts put into a truck or car .But you got to look at used truck prices these days 2500 buys you a pile of junk generally .If the body is rust free and engine is rebuilt drive train good and interior in good shape the truck is worth 8000 to 10000 . Most real solid rust free trucks are going for 6000 plus this age . Even 92 to 97 F250 4x4 in good shape are going for 5000 to 10000.Used trucks are high priced because new ones cost so much .Personally I would rather pay more for a older truck in good condition than buy a late model mainly because you can work on the older ones.just my opinion I own 4 trucks 2 1978 f250 one 95 F250 and a 2003 SuperdutyF250 and I like my older trucks more like driving them more and body wise they are in far better shape than the 2003 Superduty
Well, if you think about it....this is what 8500.00 gets you.
Rebuilt brakes, chassis painted, engine with goodies, trans, steering box, stainless lines, u joints, t case, wheel bearings etc., wheels and tires, 6" lift in progress.
No rust and no replacement panels!
Make me an offer.......it ads up at an alarming rate and disintegrates a pile of cash in a big fat hurry.
PS...this is not an attempt to sell outside the Classifieds.
I think part of it is some degree of denial starting to creep in on our behalf, as we're using our memories of what WE paid for these trucks. Well, guess what? Our dad's didn't pay anywhere near that much for a '57 F100, but I'll bet you can't find many of those now that are dirt cheap. Our trucks are getting older guys.......they're over 35 years old, which places them squarely into "classic status". They're the last of real steel trucks, and the public is slowly starting to come around to that concept. Sure, you can find a mid-90's truck pretty cheap, but that's because they're extremely plentiful, and there's no appreciation having developed for them yet.
I know I'll never get what I put into my truck out of it, but then that's a moot point as I'll be taking Buford with me to the grave. I did, however, have him professionally appraised by one of the preferred apprasiers from Hagarty Insurance, and Buford appraised for a sum that is considerably more than this rig. Do I think I'll ever get that price?......no.......but it definitely woke me up when I received the appraisal book in the mail. Granted, Buford is only about two steps short of being a trailer queen, but it doesn't negate the fact that an accredited appraiser believed he's worth a lot of money. I'm hoping things like that begin to drive the prices of our vehicles up so that those of us lucky enough to have them can reap the rewards later.........just like our fathers did......and their fathers before them.
We'd like to think we can find a good dentside dirt cheap, but those days are slowly coming to an end......depending on how you look at it, that's either a good or bad thing........just depends on whether your name is already on the title, I guess.
