I know this topic has probably been asked 100 times, but after 2 days of searching the forum, Google, and even calling Summit Racing, I cannot find what I need. On my 239 V8, I have the original 2 barrel Holley 94 Carb. Here is a picture of the one similar to mine with the tapered neck at the top.
I already purchased an air cleaner set from Summit, complete with a 2 5/8 adaptor to go to 5 ½ inlet for a bigger air filter. Stupid me though thought there was a stud hole for a wing nut to go into. I guess I should start looking before I buy parts. Anyways, I do not want the old style oil bath, and I do not want a small 3 inch wide by 4 inch tall can type filter either. I want a real air filter that will not restrict air flow like I’ve read up and down on the forum.
Now that I say that lies the problem. I can’t find anything of what I am looking for. Due to the tapered end on the carb, it will not let me put a hose clamp on it and no adaptor will stay on. I know I could go down the easy route of just buying a new carb top that will allow me to put the hose clamp on, but that’s more $$$ that I do not want to spend.
Can anyone point me into the direction or give me an idea on what to do? I’m at a loss right now. Thanks!
I was going to get a second oil-bath air cleaner, and cut the bottoms off of both to fabricate a base for each so I could bolt on any air cleaner I want.
If someone has a better idea, let me know.
An option for you would be to modify your oil-bath cleaner to use a filter cartridge. Unless you don't like the look of the original cleaner.
I was going to use a couple of the original oil-bath cleaners. I didn't know you could buy the little pop-can air cleaners for that carb. top. I'll probably get those instead of wasting good originals.
I found this on YouTube. The pictures are captured from a video, so they're not very good. The jest of it is, it's a can that clamps onto the carb. throat, that has a stem up the middle. Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate.

the thing is my original oil bath is pretty rusted out. im not sure if there is anything i can even use off of it. i was thinking maybe to get a piece of 2 3/4 stiff hose and clamping it on there. something has to work!

Do you have a link to the video, or a link to someone selling those?
