89 bronco ac problems

A/C problems can range from a blown fuse (cheap) to compressors, evaporators and condensers. (EXPENSIVE!) You can see if the compressor comes on. If it doesn't....see if it has any refrigerant in the system. Depress the schrader valve at the dryer or near the compressor...GENTLY! If there is no refrigerant, or is low enough to not allow the compressor to come on, (You need gauges to tell if it's low) you have a leak. I would STOP there!! There is a high pressure AND low pressure cut out switch. (That protects the compressor) At that point, you are going to need some specialty tools...which can be VERY expensive!! Don't go down to the parts store and get the charge up kit! You'll just be wasting money. That will not fix the problem! Take it to a REPUTABLE A/C shop!! Lots of A/C shops have a "check out" special. Let them tell you what the problem is and how much it's going to cost. If you have never done A/C work......take it to a shop and save yourself a lot of time and aggravation....and $$$!!!
