Best thing to do if you have never worked on A/C's would be find a good shop or mechanic to check it out. Especially if has not been converted to R134a.

Check to see if the compressor clutch is engaging when you. Activate ac control. You should here it engage/disengage. You. Can verify if it has been converted to. 134a. By checking the charge connections 134a charge hose would not. Fit

A/C problems can range from a blown fuse (cheap) to compressors, evaporators and condensers. (EXPENSIVE!) You can see if the compressor comes on. If it doesn't....see if it has any refrigerant in the system. Depress the schrader valve at the dryer or near the compressor...GENTLY! If there is no refrigerant, or is low enough to not allow the compressor to come on, (You need gauges to tell if it's low) you have a leak. I would STOP there!! There is a high pressure AND low pressure cut out switch. (That protects the compressor) At that point, you are going to need some specialty tools...which can be VERY expensive!! Don't go down to the parts store and get the charge up kit! You'll just be wasting money. That will not fix the problem! Take it to a REPUTABLE A/C shop!! Lots of A/C shops have a "check out" special. Let them tell you what the problem is and how much it's going to cost. If you have never done A/C work......take it to a shop and save yourself a lot of time and aggravation....and $$$!!!
