Overload leaf

Will putting my overload leaf back in help reduce wheel hop/axle wrap? When I took ownership of the truck the overloads were already out so I don't know if anything changed when they were removed.

Depends on the type of overload. Some don't come into play until the load is on and they wouldn't make any difference at all. Others are partially engaged all the time and might help a little bit.

Just a thought...

I have seen some overload springs that had adjustable rubber "bumpers" on them, that would screw up and down, causing the springs to make contact with certain loads or no load on at all. If you could find a set like that, you could actually adjust them to a preload, so they would help with wheelhop.

Well I decided to go get some leaf spring clamps and put them on. Turns out the little band that goes around my leafs were so wore out that they were basically loose. The spring clamps helped a ton. The wheel hop isn't completely gone but its about 90% better.

Interesting. Could you post a picture of what you used?

I would like to have a little extra spring capacity in back but I don't want the extra height that they add.

I'm also interested in a pic or info on what you used.

I have the hardest time getting pictures on here but I got them at advance auto if u go to their website and search spring clamp you will see them. I think it was around $16. If you want to see one installed just google image search leaf spring clamp. I'll try to get some pictures of it on here when I get off work.
