Hey guys I'm about to replace the rear brakes on my 1956 f250. It has a Dana 60 in it and was wondering what size the axel nut is,any tips on taking the drum off?
Thanks
Dan
Thank you so much. I wana do it right and not hack it up.
Is it possible to pull the bearing out and repack it or is it done. I wana replace the oil seal
At least it looks like it's hexagonal. Albatross ('55 F500) has octagonal nuts. That definitely takes a special socket. I found a good hard octagonal socket on FleeBay.
It will spill a bit, you can minimize that by slightly "tipping" the axle. Change the seals when you close it up. I greased mine, help to keep from running dry before the lube oil makes it to cover the bearings.
