This is the back end plan with fresh black paint. Add a black diamond plate tool box and a baja style mounted 35" bogger as a spare. Well maybe on the baja mount?? TBD
And back to these rims and tires (35's) or some 38's? Depends how they clear the front fenders. Or maybe the 36 Humvee take offs? I have 6 new ones??
Maybe black out the chrome strip around the bottom edge of the front fenders. I like the touch on this Bronco, but not the murdered out grill shell, that was to much.
Black bed liner the bottom floor pan, kick panels and area below the door panels, add black door panels, visors and headliner. Newer/used black dash pad with no cracks.
Black grill insert, headlight rings, front bumper and push bar.
Since the outer grill shell is in nice shape and it will have dent chrome in the fenders and doors, I might go with chrome on the bottom edge of the fenders and brite mirrors.
Rich. Take a guess how easy it is to take a truck that was a farm truck, ...then a wheelin' truck, ...and then try to make a "nice" truck out of it. This thing is about as straight as a potato chip. I got behind the doors roughed in today and went back and fixed the body line on the driver's door. Stuff I thought was straight when I shot the primer, turned out to be not very, when I did the first surface work on the primer. I found all kinds of ripples and dings I didn't see before.
The stack holes are gone and filled behind the cab. I got the second round of mud on the front clip and driver's door. It's coming out nice, but there's just no way to get it done before we leave in a couple days.
Alan I understand your desire to make it "nice", and in do time. I know you will. Concentrate on getting safely to Florida to see your dad, and enjoy the road trip and the family time.
Then after a little break from the DA sander, get back to it and do your best. Like I have to tell YOU to do your best...lol. I am sure there is a big difference in your level of its ok and mine, I trust your level of its ok.
FYI its was more of a farm truck then a wheeler, otherwise I would of left it the way it was. Sorry its being such a PITA, thanks again for working on it.
Ok, I got a couple shots of the progress. I decided to strip the whole thing to bare metal. The red paint underneath was dead too. Apparently, the truck was originally blue.
More primer in place. The fender is round two on the mud and primer. So is the driver's door. One of these days, I'll get that lower body line right. It still needs adjusting. The rest is looking decent.
It's getting smoother and straighter. After about 20 hours so far, the cab is finally how Rich described it on day one. ("pretty straight and solid")
lookin good!!! I like it better when Rich posts pics!! When Rich posts pics I can see them from my ....work ....and if not, I have to look at them from my phone....lol!
Now it's just a challenge to see how nice I can get a truck that's been rode hard and put up wet for most of it's recent history.
I'm gonna put it out back when we leave so nobody messes with it. After we get back, I'll finish it up. In case everyone is wondering why I stopped at the window line with the body work so far, ....I can't reach any higher without a ladder.
Ok, I had a REALLY busy day at the "job" today, but I forced myself to move forward on Rich's truck. I got the passenger door stripped and in primer. I also got another coat on the driver's side fender.
Hopefully, I'll get the body work and primer done this week, but every time I look at this thing, I find another dent or ding. This truck was as straight as a wavy lays potato chip.
