My '64 F100 is either on a longer frame, or the ones above are on slightly shorter ones. Mine has a short flat space ahead of the wheel well.
Correct, your '64 2WD has a 128" wheelbase, so you will have more bed space than a 120" 4WD. In both cases, the frame was not extended for the installation of the standard length bed. The frame needs to be extended 33 1/2" to re install original full length bed. It just looks better!
That photo is the first evidence I've seen that there were other F100 CrewCabs built. Not a bright idea, as I've been to the dump scales often enough to know that with the extra cab grafted in, the legal load capacity for my truck is 500 pounds. Pretty wimpy from a legal standpoint. What year is the truck in the photo of the extended crew?
Very interesting bill my 71 along with many other 67-72 crews I've seen had one of 2 emblems one was just crew cab the other was special or custom crew cab having a mind blank at the minute are these actually 73 emblems?
The people that make this claim that the parts catalogs are wrong have NO Ford parts catalogs, NO Ford parts experience. So how the hell can they make this claim?
Since you say otherwise, I'll give you $100.00 cash...if you can come up with a genuineFord Crew Cab emblem or nameplate part number for 1973 and older.
Lotsa luck!
Here's 1973/79, take a look-see.
btw: FTE member Brady Couchman has a 1970 F350 Crew Cab. I've seen it in person at a SoCal Chapter GTG. Why don't you ask him about the 'so called' bumpside Crewe Cab emblem.

1966 F250 4X4: How many "vent" cables does the parts book say is required?

Alright ND, I'll shut up before I make a bigger fool of myself.
I've never seen one of these crew cabs with a bed cut to fit the way that one is from ford or any conversion companies. Garbz did many of the crews have the bed cut like that or very few of them? Did they not make or extend the frames until the bump sides? Also your old 66 crew do you know if it was exactly like this one or did it have a full size short bed and is that a picture of yours as you were building it? Man I wish It still had all the good body panels on it when I bought it. Now I need a radiator support both front doors both inner and outer fenders and a tailgate somewhere down the line after you sold it somebody swapped all them good parts and I got somebody's junk body parts with the crew
The picture is in my second garage as i was building it.
in 65 the Factory crew cabs received a frame of sufficient length to accommodate a short bed on four wheel drives or a short long bed on 2 wheel drives.
I would assume that crown did not cut and extend the stock factory frame due to when it arrived at the ford dealer after conversion it still carried a factory full warranty. I do not think ford would warrant them if this was done.
Again the crew were for utility. not meant to be pretty hauling six rig workers and a load of tools.
All crown beds were cut down as they used stock trucks and extended the cabs, They are rude and crude, Look at the floor section at the rear and the roof panel they just lopped it off with a saw, left the pieces behind along the edges and placed a new roof panel over it.
It had complete good sheet metal on the truck when i sold it. It looks like they took the front door on the passenger side and moved it to the rear on the passenger side. That baffles me as the body line will be 3/4" to high.
It had a good tailgate when it left.
Here is a link to my photo bucket I scrounged up some photos from an old hard drive. There are also some on the net in the old slicks sixties MSN site and on Yahoo.
Did the 61-66 crew cabs have crew cab emblems or did they start badging them starting in 67? I've never seen any on slicks but I have on bump sides
Ford starting using the "Crew Cab" emblems in 1970, when Ford starting putting the square emblems on the cowls for certain packages. It is the exact same square metal base that was used on 1970 "Camper Special" "Heavy Duty Special" "Contractor Special" and "Farm Ranch Special". The metal frame is the same, it is just a separate metal foil decal for each package inserted in the same frame. Part # D0TB-16720.http://www.fordification.com/forum/v...p?f=9&p=412672
