I'd just like to thank everyone on this thread who's said over and over again to keep a CPS in the glove box.
I bought one and put it in the box of my '97 about 7 years ago, never used it and moved it to my '99 two years ago. Last month the CPS cut out on the Jersey turnpike in the middle of traffic and construction on the way to Lake George for a week of camping. I got over to the side off the road, with my fiancee staring blankly at me.
It suddenly popped into my head that it could be the CPS, and I got one!
Now all you guys gotta do is beat it into people's head to leave that little 10mm wrench in the glove box with the new sensor...
Thanks for the reminder. I met Clay from RiffRaff this weekend with intentions of asking if he had some with him. The ole 41 yr brain furgot. Lol I should call them 2morrow.
I'm thinking of also adding an IDM to that list, as I sit here at the Albany Avenue Garage, of Kingston NY, where these fine mechanics are installing a used IDM from a donor '99 in their yard.
In the past 7 years of my 7.3L PSD ownership, the score sits at IDM 2, CPS 1.
