Reverse Camera w/upfitter wiring and Parking Sensor?
I'm about to tie into the "Reversing Lamps Relay" Black/Pink wire to trigger my rearview camera. Only problem is that I will be tying in an upfitter to turn the camera on manually if desired.
All of the threads I can find don't mention weather feeding 12v on this line will trigger the Parking sensors. That black/Pink wire goes straight to the parking sensors switch and I'm assuming as soon as I feed the wire 12V I will trigger the parking sensors.
Other people have used a line going up to the mirror for a mirror cam, but my truck has the chromatic mirror and according to the diagram, that wire is bk/pink also.
All of you who have done this using the BK/Pink or the other wire, Are you triggering your backup sensors?
Perhaps if I tie in at the end of a run with a diode I will be OK. That wire seems to go everywhere though. Perhaps that is why everyone is going to the passenger kick panel because it's at the end of the run and a Diode would solve the problem?
Think I just answered my own question there..

I would use a (relatively) high current Schottky Rectifier like SD241 from International Rectifier. You would connect the power from the backup Relay to one leg, power from the upfitter switch to the other, and the output to the camera to the case of the device. Drop it in a small container and pot it with either epoxy or automotive Goop.
The Schottky acts as a logic OR switch. Either power lead will feed to the camera but will be isolated from each other.
Let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I just used a diode, blocking voltage going back into the system.
Cut the line going to the mirror.
inserted Diode.
Tied in reverse line from new stereo above diode.
Works Awesome!
First backup camera ever. I can actually see the hitch....
In the dark
Ahhh yeah
The only possible downside to the way I have it hooked up is that the chromatic auto-dimming mirror turns off if I manually flip the upfitter. I was aware of this and completely unconcerned as that thing is only one step up from useless anyways.
