Purchase Advice
My daughter-in-law is looking at a 2006 XLT 4X4 Crew Cab; body/paint is almost flawless; interior is excellent; EGR-valve, EGR cooler, L/R head gasket, HP STC fitting at the HPOP, IPR, High Pressure Oil Pump, Oil PRessure Branch Tubes, #7 cyl fuel injector, engine oil cooler have all been replaced by a Ford dealership; truck has 140,000 miles on it. Asking price is $14,500 - she has talked them down to $12,500. What say you? Thanks.

Sounds like the truck has had an awful lot of work which could have been the result of previous owner neglect or lack of 6.0 knowledge. I wouldn't touch it without first getting gauges on it (Scangauge, dashboss, torque) and seeing what the actual numbers are on the critical readings before and during a test drive.

It wouldn't scare me away, but definately take the truck for a test drive with a set of gauges. Hopefully starting with a cold start and later trying a hot start.
12,500 is pretty good for a 4X4 crewcab. I would recommend the shortbed for daily driving, a crew cab long bed is like an aircraft carrier.
