So I helped my buddy weld a brush guard on a D5 the last 2 Saturdays, got done and noticed a few drip of oil under my 02 F350 7.3, climbed up and looked, had a nice little trail of oil running down. He had an O-ring kit from Ford, so last night I decided to do it,,, WTF!! What a royal PITA!! I don't think my hands or arms will be the same! Started about 1800, got done about 2130 AND 2 Lagunitas Undercover Ales. I am going to call the shop today and see what THEY would have charged, because if I was charging me it would be about $1000 dollars!! Now mind you, I don't have the biggest hands at the end of my arms, but they ain't small either, would have been handy to have my 3 yr olds hands!
Had to vent!

When I got up this morning, I walked out and drive my 66 F100 to work, 240 I6 and T18 and I can ride IN the engine bay if I so desired! After last night, I enjoy my older trucks more and more!

LOL. Ford very generously paid us 0.8 hrs to perform that repair under warranty. So according to them it should only take you 48 minutes to access and remove the fittings, clean the fittings spotless, fight all of the oil drips, install new O-rings, apply sealer to the threads (you did apply sealer didn't you?) clean all of the leaked oil up, reassemble everything and fill out the paperwork.
You were able to do it yourself? When mine were leaking, I was told there was a special tool was needed to remove the lines, which was hard to come by. So I took mine to a mechanic referred by a coworker, he did it in like 20 mins. However, I found out later, that he stripped the threads putting the lines back on. Which REALLY screwed me, cuz it's aluminum and I had to replace the HPOP that technically functioned just fine. > I took it back to the mechanic who claimed he didn't know me, and like an idiot, I didn't get a receipt. So I bought a new HPOP (NOT cheap!) and had a different mechanic do it and to add insult to injury, the a-hole before didn't remove the lines correctly and just broke the clips that held the lines. So now my truck is leaking oil again and I was quoted $2700 from the dealer. Ugh... I would've done it myself if I thought I could. But the "clips" kept me from attempting it.

This is one of the reasons I refuse to have anyone work on my vehicles other than myself !
