I got to work this morning to find my truck had been leaking oil on the way in. I have a 2002 F350 7.3 CC LB, only mods are 6637 and 4" turbo back straight pipe. I didn't have any oil in my driveway. Work is about 40 miles, 50 minutes away. I was low enough on oil when I got to work I only had a drip on the dip stick. I am still at work and will be for the next 24 hours, so I can't really clean things up to see where it is leaking from. My entire engine is covered with oil, top, front, back, hood, and everywhere back from there.
I put more oil in it and ran it for about 5 minutes, noticed no oil leaking from anywhere. Ran it at about 1500 RPM for about 1 minute then back to normal idle. I noticed oil pouring out under my truck. It was a solid stream coming from about mid-passenger side, just in front of the front axle. I can't see up top where it would be coming from, like i said, there is oil everywhere. There is definitely a pool of oil in the valley.
It is leaking bad enough I won't be able to get home, so I am probably going to end up taking it to a shop unless there is a somewhat easy fix I can do in my works parking lot. Any advice? Thanks for y'alls help.
WOW, Thats a lot of oil. You must have a o-ring failere on your HPOP, (high pressure oil pump). Look on top of the engine while running and see if you can see one of the lines leaking. If that is what it is, easy fix. Don't go to the shop yet. Let us know.
Like Rick said above, Before you take it to a shop let us know a little more might be able to save you some money. I know when the HPOP line blew on my truck it quit within 1/2 mile. Hope its an easy fix. Where are you located at city state? Someone might be close and able to help you out. Also welcome to the site.
I don't see any oil coming from the top of the engine. I can't see back behind though where the HPOP plate is. I have been looking online and searching here and with my limited knowledge, it sounds HPOP related to me too. My truck is currently in Shelton, WA but I live in Port Orchard, WA. I am going to get it towed home so I can clean it with degreaser and see what I can find out. I was a bit overwhelmed earlier and after reading around, I think I am going to get my engine clean and hands dirty to see what I can find out. My truck is still running fine, no engine lights or anything. I just can't currently see where it is leaking. There is enough oil pouring out I should be able to find it. I'll keep you updated and thanks for your help.
So after cleaning it all up, it is leaking from the front drivers side bold on the HPOP. The one ford labels "non-servicable". Any suggestions? Someone told me to back the bold out a few turns, put locktite on it and tighten it back down but I have having a hard time getting the wrench on the bolt.

See this thread. LINKDon't remove the plug with the HPOP in vehicle. The HPOP has to be sitting with the plug facing up.
Thanks for the advice. Seemed a little to easy to me. Any links on how to remove the HPOP?
Here's a link to Dieselsite instructions for removing and installing HPOP. It's for the Adrenaline but it's the same for a stock HPOP. LINK You will need a new HPOP mounting gasket and HPOP reservoir gasket. Also go here for fuel line fittings parker sleeves. LINK You will be removing the fuel bowl and should replace the parker sleeves. There is also a special tool for disconnecting the high pressure oil lines at the HPOP but two small screwdivers can do the trick.
It was definitely my non-servicable plug o-ring. I'll post pics when I am cleaned up and home. One more quick question...
When I took the inspection plate off there was a sticky goo acting as a gasket, do I need to find and put another gasket on there? I haven't read anything about a gasket on the inspection plate. Thanks again. I owe you!

No gasket for that plate. Just sealant. I use high temp RTV.
These guys are great! Just posted lastnight about an oil leak, but not in this section, thought my rear seal let go,come to find out, the oil dipstick mount going into the pan was loose, saved me alot of worry. It's fixed now in about an hour. This was a 1999 with 204K miles, some mechanic close to my business tried to tell me my HPOP was leaking' the thing was I couldn't find it and he said, it was under the valley pan, which I only saw the cast iron top of the block, that lead me back to these guys.
Well... I got it back together only to realize I stripped one of the fuel lines. The drivers side top connector. Anyone know of a good place to get one? Dealer, Napa, Schucks? I need to be able to drive my truck by Thursday morning, so I still have some time, but the quicker the better. This blows... so close. It is a pretty impressive leak. Still not drivable.
