Thank you to all who gave very helpful advice. I got it to extend and all is well. I appreciate all help. And by the way comments like"are you sure your qualified to do this?" are NOT helpful and are not in the spirit of this forum. No i am not a master mechanic or technician but i am learning. No one has ever tought me anything about cars or engines or anything. I am 19 and i have been teaching myself since i was 12 without help. So yes i have alot to learn but condesending remarks dont make me any better. Thank you again so much to everyone who was helpful

Glad you got it worked out.

A lot of times shocks come with a piece of wire wrapped between the top and bottom to keep them compressed for shipping. Once you snip that wire the shock can be extended to it's full length.

Ignore the haters, keep asking questions. Everyone has to start somewhere. The only way to get experience is by doing. None of us were born knowing how to work on our trucks and we had to learn and asking questions is how we learn.

I thought this was a valid question. This stuff isn't for everyone and if you can't tell which end of a shock is the shaft end you should should not be working on something that controls how your 3500lb truck handles. Don't view this as hate. View it as a reality check.

Thank you poison oil. I appreciate your helpfulness and understanding. I love this forum and it has helped me so much in my adventures with this truck. There are so many wise and helpful people on here who genuinely want to help and teach a younger generation and i am indebted to those people. But no matter where you go there are people who want to put you down. I thank all of you so much
