Help with rancho shocks

Hello i have a 76 f250 4x4 highboy. So after getting the model of shock i needed i ordered them online. They are the rancho 5000. Specifically the 5014 was the number i was given for the front. After a week they finally got here and were missing hardware in one. The problem i have is that i believe the shock itself is too short? Has anybody had experiencd with them? I havent taken off the old ones yet but from comparing it to the old one it doesnt seem right. Is this right and just me? Or is it the wrong part? Thank you

are the Ranchos still compressed or did you snip the wire so they can expand to full length?

What he means is that some shocks come wired in its compressed state for packaging. If I can remember correctly, they may need to be unlocked somehow to let them expand. Just a thought.

If its not a gas charged shock it will not be wired in the compressed state. You just have to pull the two end apart by hand.

After looking closer at the bottom of the shock there seems to be some sort of sealant or maybe weld on the neck of it

If you are talking about the two "dabs" on what looks like a nut on the top of the shock body those are welds and the nut looking thing is holding in the seals. The only part that moves is the shaft.

Have you tried to hold the shock body and pull the shaft out? Put one of the washers and the nut on it so you have something to grab.

Wait a minute. The end in the pictures is the fixed end. Is this stud mount on each end? The end with the collar for the boot is the shaft end (the top of your last picture). Just pull on it.
