ok- i am confused. i remember buying shocks and they were strapped compressed and you had to cut the strap during install and they expanded under preasure.
i just opened up a brand new bilstein 5100 and the shock wasnt strapped and it was compressed, i had to pull the shock apart and then it compressed. is this correct?
my truck developed a horible metal squeak at every bump-road imperfect area. i pulled the front shocks and they didnt expand- thought they were worn out...... bought new ones and they seem to appear the same.
i will install the shocks this weekend but i was just curious........
The Bilstein 5100s that I put on about a month ago had the straps that held them compressed and they expanded as soon as it was cut, I think something is wrong with the ones you have.
My truck is a 2008 F-250 crew cab 4x4 if that makes a difference.
I just ordered the 5100's will be here next week, will let you know, Did you get the Bilstein steering stablizer, cause the motorcraft one is junk....I ordered that also... 405.00 for all tru 4 wheel parts
ok- i opened all 4 boxes now. the front 2 are not strapped but the back 2 are. the front 2 are extended 3 inches or so and can be pushed in to compress....
i called and they said thats right...... i guess i will put them on....
