Got the new back brakes installed with a little help from a friend. Backing plate scrubbed and cleaned with gas & brake cleaner.. like new.

Have lots more to do to get this road-ready. This was a big part of it though. Thanks for all the help.

Got the brakes swapped out on both sides. Also put in new parking brake cables.

Question, is there an alternative for using the Dorman 635-1103 "wedge clip" for locking the nut in place?

One came out in OK shape, the other is a bit distorted. Absolutely no auto stores in Atlanta have this part. Eager to get the drums wheels back on so I can move the truck to start work on the engine.

You might ask your local Ford dealer, last I remember (could be wrong, though) they were still available there.

Finally tracked a set down at a Napa store. They aren't stocked anymore and were hard to locate. I did order a couple more to have on hand if I need to do more work in the future.

I'm ready to put the axles back in. Have new metal gaskets and some orange RTV silicone.

What should the torque be on the 8 bolts that secure the axle to the spindle?

Mine uses the Dana 70.. read in another post I made that the 8 bolts (5/8") should be torqued to 40-50 ft/lbs. If this is off please let me know.

Good job with the brakes. Did a standard set of spring pliers work for you? I'll need a set for my brakes and I don't know if I should just got for a more expensive/sturdier pair. Thanks.
