Hi All ,
So I have read through many mod threads but I don't really know how much time I should be looking at for many of them.
I was wondering what popular mods are able to be done in an afternoon by someone with moderate mechanical ability but little diesel know-how? Also some cheap mods. If anyone could give me some time frames that would be great!
I also am going on vacation and trying to get the truck running as well as I can.
I bought gooch's complete fuel/oil combo o-ring kit. Would it be beneficial to replace as many of the pieces as possible just so I know when things have been done? I would rather replace something now rather than springing a leak on the 7 hour trip.
Is there a thread on common preparation for road trips? Like I said, I know a bit about gas vehicles but this is my first venture into diesel world, tons of information on this site, some is just hard to find. Been reading through threads as fast as I can
New to you truck, right? Replace all the fuel o-rings, hold off on the oil. Consider replacing your high pressure oil lines as maintenance if they look original. Change all fluids & filters: PS, diff(s), engine & trans oil, transfer case if 4x4, brake fluid. Look in to hutch/harpoon mods.
The zoodad mod is an easy mod to do and its free! 6637 air filter is a cheap mod and provides a lot better filtration. There's a few more that i cant think of right now but will post back when i remember them

Yea new to me. I followed the PS writeups I found on here, the fluid was dark and now its a nice cherry red. Bunch of air bubbles in the fluid while changing, what would that indicate? I can hear the ps pump now and couldn't before.
Is it worth getting all the parts together separately for the hutch mod? or should I just buy one of the kits?
