I have got a 1947 Ford 3ton Grain Truck that we need to swap a more modern v8 into. The flat head finally gave up and after getting the machine shop costs for a flathead rebuild realized its time for a more modern V8.
We would like to know if there is a bellhousing ring that will alow us to bolt up a 360 Ford Engine to the transmission setup? If so who sells the bell housing/clutch and motor mounts?
This truck is used for work purposes weekly and regularly carries multiples of 1000's of lbs. Our choice for the 360 is based on the fact we have several F350's that use them and they have been great motors for our purposes.
Im sure this is a common question but just could not find an exact answer in searching the topics. Thanks
Im not sure on that engine to flathead but there are quite a few different adapters out there. Google Wilcap adapters. Or just flathead trans adapters and see what pops up.
You might just need to think about swapping the trans also with whatever engine you use? But then that just adds to your work. Ie emergency brake set up. Drive shaft length etc.
