Engine Swap

Can I swap a 250 straight 6 from a 1975 Maverick into my 58 F-100 that came with a 223 and 3 speed? What would be involved with mating the 250 to the transmission and the moter mounts? Thanks!

If no one can answer this, does anyone know where I can find out? I guess my main question is bellhousing and clutch fit from a 223 to a 250. Thanks

OK...the first question I have is: Why swap in a not-so-powerful motor in the first place? (I had to ask)...

The 250 is a free motor from a friend with 50,000 miles on it. I am trying to find something that will work with my original 3 speed trans to get this truck on the road. Then I can decide if I can enjoy it with stock front end, stock trans, etc. If so I will probably rebuild the 223 at some point and leave the truck as original as possible. If I can't stand driving it stock, I will probably replace engine and tranny, maybe front end, brakes, etc.I was hoping there would be some way to find out if this engine can be adapted to my bellhousing or trans with a different bellhousing. It would help me decide on my options.
