I know that this has probably been covered but I have to ask. I have a 1999 ford with a 4r100 trans and I want to change to synthetic fluid and I don't have any idea how? I know if i just empty the pan its only a small percent. So I would like to know how to change all 17 qts? Is it possible? and is it worth it to change to synthetic? Any help is appreciated.

To me the best way to change fluid is to flush it with a flushing machine. It flushes your cooler and lines. It will be costly because of the amount of fluid used but it is the best way in my opinion.I flushed mine then dropped the pan and changed the filter, then refilled it.I believe the flushing instructions said changing the filter was unnecessery, but i did anyway. After we cut open the filter and it was clean.
