hi guys, i just put a freshly rebuilt motor in my 79 f150 and a new (used) instrument cluster to go with it. i wanna set the mileage back to zero but i am unsure how to take speedometer apart without breaking it. i know its against the law where i live but who cares. does anyone know how to do this???
Reset mine but it ain't a fun job. At times you will need three hands. Too complicated to describe but you can do it just take your time. Photos before disassembly will help. Plan on reassembling 3-4 times before you get everything right. Never could get it to zero. Must have something to do with the design. Enjoy!!
Why does my speedo needle bounce ????? Is it the cable or the guage? sorry for
It could be because the cable is not inserted/ connected all the way into the speedometer. I've had the problem before (every other time I pulled the cluster) and after pushing it in just a little further it worked smoothly.
My speedo cable end is frozen on the back of guage, won't come off even soaking with Pb and trying a pair of pliers on cable end. I wanted to grease the cable but can't remove.
Reclocking odometer looks like you can pull the pin that the numbers roll on and set #s and reinstall. Haven't tried it though.
