Should I or shouldnt I replace?
I've got a 91' F150 4x4 A/T I6 and my dad and I have been tearing down the old 4.9 and we have both manifolds off and I am in the process of cleaning and rebuilding the injectors, and while I have the fuel rail off I am curious as to whether or not I should change the FPR i can get a new one for 20$ (everywhere else is like 50+) and I really dont want to have to tear it apart latter to replace it for more $$$. The truck was my grandpa's and the odometer has rolled over at least once so i know the truck has at least 120K it (hate those odometers)...truck has been abused in its life so just looking for opinions!
also when rebuilding the injectors do you think it is really necessary to replace the filter or will a thorough cleaning do? because the kit we got doesnt have filters and if i dont have to i wont.
Thanks!
Jake
If you're really concerned, then $20 isn't going to break the bank when its going to save you a lot of hassle and time later...
As far as injector filters, it really isn't much of a rebuild if they don't get changed. The filters are kinda tricky to see if they are clean so I think its worth wile to replace them.
Again, if you have it apart, its well worth the money to do it now, then to redo it later.
