The other night I went outside for some fresh air and heard the door locks operating on our 2001 E150 conversion van. I had to disconnect the battery to stop them from going crazy.
Has anyone had this happen to their van and how do I fix it?
the first thing i would do is disconnect the fuse for them. either that will stop it, or you have some wiring shorted out somewhere.
assuming that does stop it, you just need to figure out whats triggering the system - is someone playing with the keyfob, or is one of the buttons that control it, stuck
I had the same problem on my 02 van.Ford dlr diagnosed as a bad door lock module. I took it apart and found sticky residue from spilled soda from the cup holder, which was right above it.Ford wanted about 150 for a new module. I just rinsed it off,let it dry for a few days and put it back in. Has worked fine for the last couple years.
Along with the above fix I wonder if the RKE module might not be acting up too?
I have one of those on my '03 and absolutely HATE it! When it finally goes out--if I still have the van---I'll find a way to re-wire the chassis to do without it.
