In the past year I have put in studs, head gaskets, blue spring regulator, egr delete, new oil cooler, cooling system flush, new degas bottle. In the last month I have replaced the fuel pump, had the tank cleaned, replaced two injectors, replaced the IPR, HPOP and FICM. The Turbo has been cleaned and inspected and a new (longer) silicone boot has been put on it. Now tell my guys that I have at least bought a year's worth on no worry travelling. This thing, when it's on the road, is a towing monster and a pleasure to drive. I just pulled a 12K fifth wheel up Raton Pass and never went over 2500 rpm and didn't drop below 50. I just hope most of my being stranded is in the past.

So I take it the FICM did the trick?

Yes, we got it going when they put the new one on. At least by tearing it down for all the other stuff, he found the IPR with a lot of junk on it and one pinched o-ring on the turbo. Also the oil pressure is back up where it's suppose to be and the thing sound real tight. Now could anyone tell me why my on board computer says my mpg is 10.2 and pencil and paper shows 7.97?

It always will that's why it is refered to the lyer gauge plus if you are running a tune it changes the values to fool the computer thus changing your real milage. Understand?

Depending on where you got the FICM, it could have the same weak components internally. IMO - it is not a real reliable part in stock form - especially if you have weak batteries or a weak alternator.

I understand it's always been about .5 off but this is a big diff.
