my oil light comes on when i slow down or stop.could the oil sending unit be going out?
im also having problems with it idling right.takes a while to keep started,and when i come to a stop it dies.the idle screw is turned all the way out.if i turn it in it wont stay running at all.

Based on your limited info, more than likely the engine is suffering from low oil pressure. Get a mechanical gauge to confirm the oil pressure. If the gauge shows good oil pressure after the engine is thoroughly warmed up, then more than likely it's a bad sending unit. But, more than likely, the engine's bottom end is worn and it's time to rebuild.
You can use the "band aid" approach to get a little more life, switch to straight 50 weight oil, install a high volume oil pump, add STP to the oil, etc. but, in the end, you'll need to rebuild.
As for the stalling, could be vacuum leak, choke out of adjustment, carb needs to be rebuilt.
