Welcome to FTE! If its excessive clearances on the main and rod bearings then the only thing you can do is run some thicker oil. Could be the oil pump, but with a lot of miles its probably the first thing. I see you live in Florida. You could run 20w50 oil and see how it runs. I run that in the race car. It has more zinc in it also from what I hear. Suppose to be really good for wear in the motor. You could try it along with the new sending unit and see what happens.

Do not rely on the factory gauge. Always buy a cheap aftermarket gauge before spending any money on a engine with suspect oil pressure problems. Also use your ears and keep track of how much oil it uses. Noisy operation and oil use indicates a engine with a lot of wear, so a low oil pressure reading from another gauge will confirm this.

Yea just as franklin said, the stock gauges arnt reliable enough, go to napa or whatnot and get yourself a cheap oil presure gauge and see what it reads, if it shows low presure, try running a thicker oil in it and see if that helps, its a good way to get some more life out of a tired motor.
