oil leaking at the snail on 070 ats

Trying not to be a nusence but I've been searching things left and right on here and can't find everything so hoping to get help. Is there supposed to be a gasket or seal under the snail. It's leaking oil bad. Turbo is on and seems to be working well although I can't hear it it sure has much more power. Also I don't know if the wastegate is set correctly. I haven't touched it. It is used kit. Didn't know if it has something to do with the oil flow. Sorry for the ignorance but as some of you know I've had some stumbles and bound to have more on this project Thanks

Yes, the snail is supposed to have an o-ring. I don't know what an ATS 070 is (never heard of that kit) but the 093 kit definitely has an o-ring there. If your snail is leaking oil, you're also leaking boost.

The oil's most likely coming from your CDR valve. You could bypass it and give yourself a road draft tube if the oil is excessive.

The wastegate doesn't have anything to do with oil flow -- except for the oil that is being inhaled through your intake courtesy of the CDR valve, the only oil in a turbo is for its bearings. If those are leaking oil that badly, rebuild it now or risk a runaway engine. The wastegate simply controls the amount of boost the turbo can build.

factory ats 093 pressure chamber seal - i dunno what it was.currently no longer in production anyway.
carburetor intake gasket for gm cars works.use permatex black (max oil resistance) rtv on both sides of it.

Got the gasket on and letting it sit. Took my oil dipstick out and saw that there was rtv used instead of o to.g. called Ford and they wanted 10 for an oring ........yeah right. Had one at home just like it. Also got my pyro in and will see what's up tomorrow. Will get the boost gauge also. Oh and someone said there wasn't an 070 from ats and I looked to be sure and it says it on the turbo.

I do have about 100 of the snail to manifold seals.

Im guessing that you are referencing the ar of 70 on the compressor housing.

Didn't say there wasn't an 070, just that I hadn't heard of an "070 kit" -- the only ones I know of were the 085, 088, and 093. But I've seen in several places that ATS offered an A/R ratio of .70 on some of their turbos.

Good luck with your project. I bet it'll spool a lot better with the snail sealed properly.
