Beeeeeeeeee....!!
That's right, like you said, it comes on after you drive off a few feet and just won't stop.
No instrument light indicators, no codes nothing to explain it
.Tugly,
The leaving your head lights on does trigger a continious (I won't mention the Bee.. word
) alarm when you turn off and pull the key.But this is the opposite, so I'm buggered if I know

.What to do,
Reg
This alarm is now a constant, that is it does it every time I use the truck now
. Like previouly mentioned, it doesn't come on after start up and sitting idleing. It comes on after starting and moving off a little.
It came on this morning again as I backed out of my drive. I only had a short distance to go so left it 'Beeeee...ing' instead of stopping and turning off and cycling the key to kill it.
I pulled up turned off the truck and as usual it kept going on. So a quick cycle of the key (no start) and the alarm is cancelled.
I was away from the truck about 80 mins. Came back started it and after reversing out of kerb side park spot, off it goes again
.I drive home, parked and turned off the truck but did not cycle the key.
I instead pulled the key and left the alarm going off.
I then started pulling the fuses in the under dash fuse panel.
When I got to Fuse#15 in the Aussie users manual the alarm stopped
.I don't know if Fuse# 15 protects the same circuit in your US trucks? But in our trucks it fuses the following:
Fuse# 15 5A
Stop Lamp Switch (Logic): Generic Electronic Module (GEM),
Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module, Brake Shift Interlock,
Cluster and ECC Keep Alive Memory.
I'm sure no windscreen leak has caused moisture issues with the GEM.
I possibly need to pay more attention, (I maybe imaging this) but I have a suspicion that it has something to do with the braking system.
I say this because the alarm seems to be coinciding with first touching the brake after reversing out after start up
.Anymore theories on this frustrating anomaly, my head is hurting
. Cheers,
Reg
(I think I'm drinking more too).
I just went out to double check that I had all the pre-ignition lamps coming on.
They all do come on as normal with the Airbag lamp being the last to go out.
They are all out before the 'Wait to Start' lamp goes out to start and remain out after start. I have never had a warning lamp come on.
I have had an issue with the ABS light in the past after disconnecting the batteries for a long period. That is; when start up the ABS lamp stays on and after driving a few hundred meters it goes out and acts normal thereafter. There is no issue with that at present.
But...but... I had the alarm come on on start up this morning
.This is the first time ever that it came on directly on startup. It seemed the second the key sprung back to the start position after ignition the alarm came on
.I turned it off and straight back to start (Wait to Start) it cancelled the alarm. And after start up it stayed cancelled. I let it run for a few minutes and went out and shut her down. I then started her straight back up and it started without any alram coming on.
I then let it run a little while and reversed out of my drive hitting the brakes a number of times. Drove forward doing the same thing...no alarm.
It appears that if I cancel the alarm on a key cycle, it does not matter what you do from that point on the alarm will not come on again. That is even if the truck is cold or warmed up.
If the times shut down after that key cycle to cancel the alarm are short periods of an hour or two the alarm will not come on.
But if left for extended periods and every time left overnight, this alarm sets off
.microdevil45, I guess I've answered your query on whether it comes on only in reverse. It had until now only come on after moving a little either Ahead or Astern. Now as mentioned I don't even have to move
.I just went to shut her down, but before I did, I put the head lights on. I turned her off and with the lights still on there was no warning for head lights left on
.I rarely drive at night and when I did I must have always turned the lights off before shut down so wasn't aware of this.
I had in the past disabled the annoying door chime and cancelled the seatbelt warning alarm.
As these are controlled by the GEM, could I have done one or all those wrong and caused this problem?
Thank you all for persisting with me on this.
Gotta get to the bottom of this
.Cheers,
Reg

Broken record time: The GEM (and only the GEM) sounds alarms. You have alarms when there shouldn't be, and silence when there should be an alarm. Either you have a bunch of systems lying to the GEM about problems, a faulty chime unit (checking the voltage to the chime will help here), or a scrambled GEM. I saw pictures of a member taking the covers off his GEM and there was water damage on the board. He cleaned all the damage up and plugged it back in - it worked. Isopropyl alcohol and an artist's stiff-bristle paint brush are my friends when this happens. I was able to repair a Kodak digital camera this way, after it had been sprayed by ocean surf.

I'm no computer or module boffin.
But I would have thought that by disconnecting the batteries for such a long period as I did, would have returned things like the GEM to the default settings even if it were confused/scrambled (just wondering).
I'm considering reversing the Door Chime and Seatbelt back to original one at a time. I could have upset something in it's brain when I did the mods. But I did those mods a long time ago so I'm most probably clutching at straws.
I'm not even sure where the GEM is on the Aussie RHD trucks to even try and pull it.
Any Aussies reading this know where it is?
Cheers,
Reg
Well I decided to go down the track of reversing the mods it see if any of those had caused this annoying issue; My plan was to do them one at a time and watch and wait.
Started with the 'Door Chime". I open door key on accessories and just reconnected the door chime. It sounded off 'Bing...bing...bing".
Disconnected it and removed key and shut the door.
Started the truck as normal ... noooo alarm
That was more than a month ago. I have started and stopped the truck many many times since then and that continious alarm has not come back at all
. Maybe that proceedure re-set the GEM
.However, I still don't have the alarm to warn that I have left the Head Lights on, nor does the Interior Dome light come on when opening the Driver Side door (Right hand side here
). All other doors will bring on the dome light
.Cheers,
Reg
