79 ford f150, factory ac, it has a new expansion valve and drier. I'm running the enviro safe r12 replacement (its not R-12 but some blend of flammable hydrocarbons I think it might be called r12a). I'm getting good pressures, and the system doesn't seem to have any restrictions, but the compressor never shuts off, and the vent temp never gets what I would call cold. It's cool, but not cold.
I flushed the system, and what not, pulled a good vacuum, but I'm just not satisfied with vent temp. I may be expecting too much out of an old system, since I accustom to modern systems.
I was wondering if any of you had similar problems or suggestions.
The other complaint I have is my blower motor doesn't blow very hard, have any of you done any upgrades to you blower motor to get a little more airflow from the vents?
Not any help on the temp but for air flow, IF the blower is functioning normally and running at the proper RPM, you might want to check the evaporator surface. All those fins make an excellent "strainer" and over the years accumulate enough crud, dirt and debris to really restrict air flow. While you're at it, check the ducts for junk also, it's very common to find animal nests in there.
Another possibility is, if your truck has the flexible ducts, they have deteriorated and losing air flow.
