okay, so im new to this site as well as new to the world of diesels and need a few suggestions from experience. okay i just bought a 2002 f250 4x4 7.3 crewcab lariat hunter green with tan bottom standard bed its all stock... for now. okay so i have a few questions first off i am wanting to put a straight pipe exhaust (mbrp) and a cold air intake (afe) then a tuner... this is where im lost been doing some reading and from what i have gathered... dp tuner is the best. okay so i was thinking of getting the infinity dx touch screen.... it has different gauges that can be watchable... but the gauges are they as good as pod mounted??? and im also wanting to put a leveling kit, from what i have read "zone" seems to have a pretty good one but also read that i may have to change out my rear blocks for f350?? mine are like 2.5in tall... and then the whole tire and wheel combo... i need some suggestions on what to do?? im leaning towards toyo open country for tires. and i dont know what would look best... stock wheels or aftermarket?? then chrome or black?? leaning towards black... sorry about the long post but thats everything i want to do for now.. so please give me so advice and post pictures!
Alright.
Gauges before tuning is recommend around here.
Leveling kits the all depend on what your looking for. Theres different leafs, leaf packs, and shackle kits. Good and bad can be said about any of them, but the choice is your. As for the company, everyone has there opionions. I went with zone off road due to the price, and a bigger lift will happen quickly in the future, but no problems with it.
Rear blocks. Its not only the zone kits that this happens with. Most kits talked about on here, go up just to level or the front a littie higher. If your going to level, save cash back for the rear blocks if needed.
Tuning, wow your in for a world of different opionions on this one. From my research, no company is the best (my opionion), each company has there strong points that people prefer. Php, Dp, Are just a couple I see come up all the time.
Exhaust you need to check your local laws. Around me they really dont care, but after driving so long straight piped, and getting older, I put a muffler on. Check laws, then its a preferance.
As for wheels and tires, everyone can give an opionion, but it all comes down to your taste.
thanks for the response
that was my very reason for the zone lift, seems cheap and to preform really well.
so gauges are better than the monitor.
iv also read tons and tons of post on tuners!! but from what i hear the support with the dp and alot of ppl use them so i recon i will give it a shot and i like how they customize it for you and what you do with your truck. i dont really want anything major just econ and maybe something to help out when i tow!
The Infinity will tap into all the sensors on the truck (as well as other scan gauges), and it would cost a ton of money to get gauges for everything it monitors. There are two critical things scan gauges can't monitor without add-ons (because the sensors don't exist on the truck): Fuel Pressure and Exhaust Gas Temperature.
Click the custom tuning link in my signature, lots of info there.
thats a great post to read thank you for the reference! i believe im going to go with the infinity and get all the censers as well, would be cheaper than all the pod mounted gauges.
I was where you are about a year ago. See my signature for my mods. The add a leafs did make the ride stiffer, but that doesn't bother me. I am glad of it off road.

I don't know if you are trying to confuse the OP or me.
The infinity already reads those PIDs. You just need to buy the add on sensors. Even after the hub gets released, the add on sensors will still be needed. I know you know this already, I just wanted the OP to be clear that the INfinity will read them.
thanks for all the feed back! so from all this the infinity would be a good choice? just want to clear it up a bit.
There are a lot of reasons to buy the infinity over gauges. I can think of 3 reasons that might factor into not doing it.
$1100 up front cost to read all of the gauges you will want. It's roughly an extra $400 to get the FP and EGT set up. And you definitely want those!
Gauges are a lot easier to see. I have (with my contacts) 20/15 vision and find it a small challenge to easily see what would be super obvious on a regular gauge face.
I do worry about theft. Throw some tunes in that box and all of the sudden there is a well over a grand sitting at easy reach for some D- Bag.
There are quite a few other options out there besides the Infinity in the digital scanner realm. But from the research I did, none of them hold a candle to the infinity. The customer service I've received from Justin at DP has been outstanding. If you have the cash I see no reason not to pull the trigger. The cash part was my big holding point.
