Looking for info on these for my 2002 f350 4x4 5.4L v8
I had a new steering dampener installed a month or so back and came across this in JC whitney catalog. Seems like a fairly low cost upgrade. My model truck has a front stabilizer bar, but not a rear one. Im thinking about having a rear one installed..?
Dual Front Steering Stabilizers, they look like shocks mounted sideways, similar to the steering dampener but one on each side that appear to meet in the middle...
What will this do to steering and general ride feel? What advantages would these two upgrades offer?
Does anyone have photos of an install or at least some experience?
Sounds like you're talking about 2 different parts, the anti-sway bar (which you could have a front unit/rear unit) and a steering stabilizer (only in the front).
Dual steering stabilizers is overkill if you're not running larger tires in my opinion. You could get a good single that would replace your factory unit and notice an improvement.
There's a lot of kits out there (Rancho, Pro Comp, SkyJacker, Top Gunz, BDS, etc) if you're set on having a dual setup, but it's just not needed. I ran 37" Toyo's with a single Fox stabilizer for years without any problems.
I don't think a dual steering stabilizer does much on a stock application except to mask any larger problems youo might be having with steering linkages. I went from the stock stabilizer to a BDS dual to nothing, then back to a Bilstein 5100 in the stock position, and with a stock setup there wasn't a huge difference between any of them. Stock, a Redhead steering box and better links will do more to actually fix steering issues than a stabilizer.
