Ok i drew up some planes to fab some front single single shock towers to replace my rusted out ones im a little hesitant to go ahead if any one has done this some pics would be nice or just some info seems straight forwared but insite would be helpfull ty
Why would you want to fabricate them? They're still available from Ford. There's also aftermarket ones available.
Prices from TASCA (about 6 months ago)
Right Spring Tower EOTZ-5A306-E $66.40
Left Spring Tower E2TZ-5A306-J $78.84
LMC has them as well as Jeff's Bronco Graveyard.
You will need to jack up the truck from the frame so that the front spring/shock can fully un-compress. You need to remove the brake line that goes through the spring tower. Then remove the spring clip and then spring. Remove the shock.
The spring towers are riveted to the frame. IIRC there's 6 rivets total. Bolt the new spring tower on with grade 8 hardware and don't forget the lock washers. IIRC the holes are either 7/16 or 1/2 depending on how you removed the rivets.
Don't forget to transfer the rubber suspension stop from the bottom of the old tower to the new tower.
If you don't want to do it yourself, (grinding the rivets out can be a PITA), call around to find leaf spring shops (truck spring shops). That's what I did.
I'm all for saving a buck when you can, but for the amount of work it'd take to make some - I don't know, under $200 for new ones... I think I'd spend the money.
Ty for the reply but stamped steel sheets is why there being replaced for rust wanted somthing stronger like stainless steel also with cut out fender flares the would look good
