Well, this is like sayin' my sister is a hot, 5'-9" tall blonde and 36Ds and really wants to date you. What I'm not telling you is that she weights 275 lbs and has 12 fingers, 11 toes.
I am only repeating this portion of this thread because HIO is correct, not because of the picture itself
Personally I like the badges down on the fender vs up on the cowl. I'm thinking about doing that on my 77. I also wouldn't let mine drive away for less than close to 10 grand area. But I've had mine for almost 24 years & dumpped a boat load of cash into it over the years.
Hey, imagine that! I'm checking out the forums for the first time because I bought a new truck. And hey, what do you know, here's my truck!
The in-cab tank is a bit of a mystery. I think I remember reading somewhere that 1978-79 4x4 short beds continued with an in-cab tank if they had dual tanks. But I can't find this source now. The VIN indicates that it is indeed a 1979, but the VIN on the dash is missing. I was able to find the VIN on a plate on the firewall. I don't know where else they would put a second under-cab tank since it's pretty crowded under there.
I don't see any signs of a cab swap (or anything swapped, really) -- paint seems to be identical. I don't know how else to tell, though.
Anyway, looking forward to learning from all the experience here.
Its gotta be there. Sometimes the letters/numbers are full of dirt and rust and you need a wire brush to clean the frame. Should be between the front cab mount or firewall and the coil spring bucket.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any79 would have the in cab fuel tank. I think there was a law against it which is why they stopped making them.
