I have a wonderful 1979 F150 4x4 short bed. She's all in working order and has an ATK Remanufactured engine with less than 13,000 miles on it. Also new all terrain tires, shocks and quite an assortment of other new parts that I've put in over the years of maintaining her. I have had this truck since 1994. The interior is worn and some very manageable body work is needed. A few smallish patches and a new paint job is due. I would like some knowledgeable people to help determine an honest and fair value for the truck. I don't think she's worth 8 or 9000 dollars but certainly more than 4000. Am I even near the right range? With a paint job and interior restoration, what might be fair?? How can I put pictures here?

Reason: HIO Silver says this post is worthless without pictures
Well, this is like sayin' my sister is a hot, 5'-9" tall blonde and 36Ds and really wants to date you. What I'm not telling you is that she weights 275 lbs and has 12 fingers, 11 toes.
No need to be mean. I'm new here and having trouble navigating this website. I have her in my garage with one picture and don't know how many more pictures I can ad. I have more than 5 posts but still am not allowed to post an ad. I'm very confused.
I think that pic HIO posted up was about the NICEST way anybody could have said to post up a pic.
My own experience of these trucks is they are either worth LOW dollar, or HIGH dollar. As in, its either a "project" selling for $100-$2,500 or its already polished and buffed out and they are looking to sell it for $12K-$15K. I hardly ever see an in-between for say $5K-$7K. Sometimes, but rarely. So, if you don't have her looking sweet, expect that its worth that $4K you mentioned….at best.
I agree, you can find these trucks all day in rough shape - $300/1000, good shape - $1000/$3000, awesome shape - $8000+.
I think it's because once you start fixing it up, you get the "well I might as well do this,, can't put this back rusty,, needed to fix this anyway" bug. Once you get there, you end up either getting sick of it and selling a project or finishing and wanting a pretty penny.
Just remember, the fact that you may have $4000 in it doesn't mean you will get $4000 out of it. Paint/engine/extras don't really add to the value as much as they cost you to get in the first place.
To get pix, you need to use something like photobucket, then post the links.
Nice looking truck. Maybe a replacement cab or something since that in-cab tank is wrong for the year, but if the underneath isn't rusted out and the interior isn't trashed I would go maybe $3500.
2013gtiger2 - if you post the VIN we can help decode it and see what you really have here.
I think we're missing a key piece of the value equation here unless I skimmed over it... Where are you located? A solid, useable truck that still needs work seems to go for twice as much here in the rust belt vs. what the same truck would go for out west.
There are some mysteries with this truck that need to be figured out. As stated, the F-150 emblem is in the wrong place for a 79, and there was no in-cab fuel tank in 79. What engine is in it? Where are you from? In my area I would say that's about a $2k - $3k truck. Up in Michigan (The salt belt) It would probably bring more money. We need more details to help give you an idea of what it may be worth. In the end it's only worth what somebody else will pay for it.
