my Cab sits about 1 inch lower than the bed. When i hit a bump or just drive on uneven road, i can see my cab move a lot in comparison to the bed.
also when i take off on a left hand turn i have a rattle noise just below / in front of my pedals.. it sounds like the exhaust up-pipe from the driver side is scraping on the cab.
I did look underneath and all cab-bolts seem to be tight, no gap, and none of the mounts are blown out.
any advice?
if the mounts are bad, where would i find an inexpensive replacement set?
the only cab / body mounts I will install are from the dealer. buying from ford on the last job i did was just about the same price as any other aftermarket rubber kit I could find.
I installed a set of energy suspension on a customers truck several years ago, they are so hard that you can feel every bump or crack in the road.
You have six bushing locations on your crew cab. Maybe they all do...I don't know.
Regardless of what you replace them with, getting the existing ones out is a the biggest challenge. The bottom assembly (rubber donut on a metal sleeve with a nut) must be pulled off of the top rubber assembly.
Beating the bolt from the top will only cause you to cuss and swing harder...leading to more cussing...
Do a little research and you will find several solutions. I fabbed a piece of pipe and threaded rod with flat washers and nuts. If you were close I'd help you. Took me all day my first time. I could have them done in an hour or so the next time.
Block the wheels. disconnect the carrier bearing and tie the drive shaft to the passenger's side frame. Remove the front gas tank skid plate if equipped. Using two ratchet straps make two slings from one frame to the other under the gas tank. Remove the gas tank mounting straps and slide the tank over only as much as needed to access the rear driver's side body mount. This one will be the hardest.
Before you start, buy two new bolts for the very front and I'd recommend als having the bottom nut/washer piece too. These bolts will likely twist into two. My truck is about as pristine as you can find and the bolts where almost half rotted. Stupid design, holds water and muck. You can always return them if you do not use them. Had they broke I would have been stranded. Even though I could have used a sawzall to cut them out I might not have been able to find a replacement on the Sunday I did this.

That's good info. I've never had poly body mounts, and I've always wondered about them being too hard.
