I have a 2002 XLT 2wd with the 5.4l engine. It will not start but cranks over strongly. Here is what happened.
Out running errands with the wife and we made the 5th and final stop on our trip. After about 15 min of shopping, I go to start the truck back up. It starts imediately but then dies after approx 2 sec. If I tried to crank it again it would not start until I turn it completely off first.
After I got it towed home here is the list of symptoms.
About 2 weeks ago I got the CEL and the code pulled P0442 : Evap system leak. This was not effecting the drivability so I hadn't looked into this yet.
As soon as I turn the key on the CEL, Brake light, Fuel, oil and theft light all flash continuously. All the other lights act normally.
The speedo and Tach act normally.
The truck no longer starts at all. Just cranks.
I pulled the fuel pump and hooked it up while out fo the tank. When you turn the key on it does cycle. Fuel filter is not plugged.
After looking in the owners manual this is what I found.
Listed in the Passenger compartment fuse panel is
Fuse 2: PCM, Cluster
The relays are labeled as Interior lamp, battery saver, one-touch window and accessory delay.
The power distribution panel has Fuse 2: PCM, as well and 501 is a PCM diode. No relays are listed as for the PCM.
I am still a bit confused on what I should be swapping out.
