Installing B Code's, missing a leaf on my B's, ideas?
So I jumped the gun on buying some B codes off craigslist last month, and didn't realize I needed the lowest flat spring, they are just the arc'ed springs. My plan is to install the modded B's, but I can't find anyone who sells the overload / bottom spring. I called SD springs, but they only sell the entire leaf pack. Can I reinstall the odd Excursion anti roll leaf as substitute? Any other alternatives anyone can think of? I really don't want to buy an entire other set of springs just to get the one piece.
That would be a relief. Hoping someone can confirm that. I'm at a loss at this point.
Honestly, while a modded B is tried and true, there's nothing from stopping you from creating your own modded spring to get what you want.
Necessity is the mother of invention, so you can do whatever you want, adjust the spring pack however you want, and create your own spring pack setup with the items at your disposal.
Until one guy thought about modding the B codes, then actually did the modding, it had never been done before. Soon after it was mentioned on The Diesel Stop, others tried the modded B codes route and slowly, it caught on. Heck, one well respected user (CaryT) over at TDS decided to ride the wave when he decided to try out the new fangled modded B codes and eventually made a business out of it, specializing in Excursion suspension setups!
Do your own thing, just be smart and safe about it!
Thanks Stewart. My main concern was what purpose the flat leaf spring served and whether or not some other leaf could substitute for it. If it's just a spacer, I think I'll just use the Excursion lower leaf. If I get it all put together and it doesn't have the height I'm looking for, I'll just add the taller tapered block.

It serves as the "last stand" for the arched leaves in that, if the spring compresses that far, the leaves will be supported by the thicker base spring to keep it from arching past that point.
