Changing steering columns would have to include moving, disconnecting, and re-connecting wires, including the ignition switch, etc.
Your electric fuel pump will activate and operate only after turning the key to start for safety reasons.
If that connection is "open" after the work, you could possibly turn the engine over but not activate the fuel pump.
I would go back with a vom and test for 12v's off the ignition switch and make sure all lines are re-connected.

If the PATS ignition antenna wasn't reconnected then the anti-theft system would shutdown power to the fuel injectors.

p.s. loose the caps, we really hate all caps.

If the ignition cylinder was swapped (which I assume it was with the column), wont the PATS need to be reprogrammed to accept the new keys??

Well I would hope whomever swapped the column knew enough to swap the key cylinders too.

As in NEW cylinder not his old one... IE: junk yard column with key, would need to program the PATS.
