Electric fuel pump questions
I have an 85 F250 with a 460 and when i start the motor the fuel pump will pump gas, but after it is just running, it stops pumping fuel. (when the key is in start it pumps, when its in run, it doesn't pump.) I need some of that famous FTE help...thanks

Could be the ignition switch. Some of the 80's vehicles had a problem with the matal ears that hold the plastic assembly into the switch not being tight enough causing a bad connection. Look at the switch that is about 1/2 way down the right side of the steering column and see if the plastic center section of it is tight against the metal housing. If not, I have used a hammer and screwdriver to tap the 4 corner tabs tighter to get a good connection.

yea, i tried that, i put a new ignition switch on it, but no good...im assuming its electrical though, because i unplugged the fuel line at the carb, and gas gets there asap in start, so i dont believe there are any clogs in the line. Also there is no fuel in the return fuel line, i dont know if thats because none is flowing to return it, or if that could be the problem....im pretty much an amateur at this, so a, b, c, directions help alot... thank you.
