Well i finally got my wife's truck to run smoothly, no problems with idle or driving. The old girl has 484,000 miles and it still runs like a top.
Now while the truck was in the air my wife liked the way it looked, even and lifted about 4-6 inches. My question is what do you guys recommend for this truck as far as a lift kit goes? It is a '90 150 ext. cab short bed 4x2, with a 5 speed and EFI 4.9L 6. I already have a set of method wheels on order but i have not chosen a tire yet since she was still deciding on lowering or lifting the truck. My only limitation on the kit is it must not only lift the truck but level it out as well.
the rough country seems like a good kit and at a great price. I was looking at pro-comp but they are charging about the same as a kit for my 97 4x4. I am thinking about going with some 31x10.5-15 tires on the 15x7 methods, what would i need to keep the speedo working correctly?
First up - be warned, the rough country kits will make your truck ride like a tank. I have their 4" kit on my 89 F250, and while it is a well built kit, it will ride like a tank. Although I am very happy with the quality of their bracketry and small parts, they didnt put much effort into ride quality.
As far as tire size goes, you should be able to almost fit 31s stock. If you lift it I would look into a 33" tire. BF goodrich still makes a 33x10.5 if you like the tall skinny look. otherwise 33x12.5s look pretty darn good on these trucks if i do say so myself
i just keep looking at it and wondering why it is the only company at that price range. Everything from Rancho to BDS to Pro-Comp is in the $850+ range. Is it just the springs they use but why the almost 50% price difference?
Couldnt tell ya. Honestly other than the stiff springs, i like the quality of the rough country componants better than the ones in the BDS lift i have on my 95. BDS does have the no questions asked warrenty though, and it has come in handy for me
did you notice if your truck leveled out with the RC kit or was the rear still a little high? My wife likes the leveled look but not the **** in the air like it is now, if it does not i might need to find a way to get the 2" block for the rear instead of the 3" that the kit comes with.
