its that time of the year to change my spark plugs. i have a 01 f250 with a 5.4L and i just turned 200k on my truck. When i replaced the plugs last year i used double platinum plugs and they seem to work good. Lately i been hearing a lot of different things about the E3 spark plugs. i was wondering if anyone uses them or if they know how they perform in the 5.4L. I was thinking about trying them out but before i do i figure i ask out here. I always got good results asking questions on FTE before doing something to my truck or need help troubleshooting something. I hope i can get some input on the E3 plugs from all you guys out here. Thanks in advance
Just stick with motorcraft plugs and youll be good. I have not heard good things about E3 plugs in modular motors. When I used to service Crown Vic squad cars they only got motorcraft plugs. We were specifically told to not use any other plugs in any of the 18 trucks/cars ranging from F550's to Crown vics. Those engines had lots of idle time with regular motorcraft plugs and there was never an issue. "If it aint broke, dont fix it!" Stick with what you know.
how many miles are you racking up anually to change them every year?
also on that '01 make sure you're torquing them -exactly- to spec with a good torque wrench! i've been on the recieving end of plug blowouts in my last truck haha
ive used these in my 5.4 with no problems what so ever, went back to Motorcraft because Advanced sells them cheaper now. And i change my plugs ever 30k in my Super Duty, just hit 118k and no problems http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cp...view/make/ford
X10 on MotorCrafts for the 5.4s. I have been running Autolites in all my classic cars for years. Hands down biggest bang for the buck. All the fancy plugs are a huge wast of your dollars even for a lawn mower. Just a sales gimmick to up-sell you and make you spend 4-5 times or more above the cost of a regular plug which will do the exact same job....lipstick on a pig.

i put 50k on this last year and i always torque them and never had a blow out. i also use anti seize on the plugs and dialectic grease on the COP boots
