Amsoil

My truck is due for an oil change and I'm thinking about switching to amsoil. Just looking for any advice or suggestions. How often would you recommend between changes? My truck has 111500 miles. Mostly just a daily driver.
Thank you.

i consider it a waste of money.
i am currently on a 7500 mile oil change interval, and considering going to a 10,000 mile interval.
the oil analysis for the 75000 is good, so i am going to see what it says at 10 k.
i use regular old valvoline all fleet 15-40

Here goes the oil wars! LOL I use Shaeffer's 7000, with my heavy towing the oil doesn't break down as much according to the oil analysis. Its $18-$19 a gallon.

Time to step up to the 9000!!! lol

I use the 9000 and have had great oil analysis out to 7500... i dont haul all the time. I didnt go any further after 7500 since i think that is long enough.
I know some people who use synthetic and bypass setup have had good analysis as far out as 12k

I have an uncle that runs the 7.3's he has to 10k, with just 15w40 delo oil. He's never had a problem, never done an oil analysis either. I run rotella 15w40 and change every 3k. I work mine pretty hard, and I don't have the money he has either to replace/repair something if needed. Fresh oil is always better for the motor.

My opinion is screw the analysis unless there is a problem it may help diagnose. Run 15w40 up to no more than 5k, and synthetic up to 7500. Like I said, just my opinion of course.

Here's an interesting read. Not only the article in the first post but the discussion following.

For years I ran Rotella, then switched to syn Rotella. I have always done the oil analysis (probably a waste of money like Darin says). I consistently sheared the oil down ten points average. Shaeffer's 7000 has moly in it and even though its not a true syn it doesn't shear down. I do though run the 9000 in my wife's 06 Beetle TDI. I don't like to push the OCI out to far because I work the **** out of my motor, 6 or 7K at the most. Right now I've got 3,500 on the oil that I put in after all the work I did on it. I'm feeling really guilty about doing something so stupid because of the possible dirt or whatever I might have gotten in the motor when it was working on it. Its coming out soon before I hit the road again.
