For the life of me, I forgot what the explanation is but it runs great - I've had it to 90 miles per hour without any problems - (have to wait till the steering box is replaced before I can go any faster... )
The blades are spaced funny to reduce the noise. If they were evenly spaced, you'd hear a RRRRRRRR. The irregular spacing reduces the frequency of the RRRR to one that won't bother you. The tread on some tires is irregular for the same reason.
