Ok so my 460 seems to be overheating for some reason. I've always thought that it has run a bit warm but today while backing an EMPTY trailer into someones backyard it went to 250 degrees and shut off. Normally while driving it runs around 200. The only thing i can think of is the thermostat? Brand new radiator, water pump has around 5k miles on it so it shouldn't be it, and i have a 5 bladed flex fan that moves a lot of air, although i am missing a shroud, but i don't know if that would be that big of a deal. Ant help would be appreciated, thanks.
The shroud can be a pretty big deal. Without it, your fan is not pulling nearly the air through the radiator that it should be, instead its just swirling hot air around inside the engine compartment. Don't know about Cal. but down here, its in the mid to high 90s.
You can check your thermostat easy by taking it off and(when cold) and drop it in hot water and if it opens you know it works,
Just because something HAS been replaced does not mean it is still working especially if it is a rebuilt part.
Why did you have to replace that and the radiator in the first place, because if it was due to rust from the engine block and it was not flushed, your radiator could be just plugged up and need to be rodded,hOPE SOME OF THAT HELPS IN THE QUEST TO FIND OUT WHAT MAY BE WRONG WITH YOUR TRUCK ok wasn't yelling hit the caps button HA HA HA HA HA(that was me laughing out loud
