Wow! I would have already bought it for that price... if its anything like the GV .78 ratio, it should put you right where you want to be. 1600 rpm at 60 mph, 1867 rpm at 70 mph... assuming stock tires.
That link is handy. Cant remember the specs, i know theyre in justins thread, i want to say .76 or .74 Tires will stay stock until the SAS, then ill probably run 285s, which really shouldnt be much taller than 235s, may go 305s, but i doubt it, theyre a tough size to find, and more expensive than the 285s and 315s

Yep getting studs and intercooler. Just mentioned the big stuff, with all the supporting mods and little stuff its a pretty sizable list.
Nice truck and sounds like you ahave a great plan for it. Cool that it was your Dad's truck and you know it has been taken care of well over the years.
My 88 has the ZF-5 and 4.10 gears. With 305/70R16 tires I run about 2500 rpm at 75. A taller gearing would probably be nice, quieter and better mileage potential.
I forgot to mention an oddity, which is no doubt worsening mileage as well. We replaced the fan clutch a year and a half ago tops, the thing has never unlocked. The temp gauge runs cold, ive been wondering if they stuck a 165 t-stat in it when it was rebuilt. My only thought is its not getting warm (loose) enough to unlock..? Highly doubtfull i know but i cant think of anything else. I know that the engine runs between 165-180 when warmed up, does not get hot.. ever.
Now only if didn't have that GREEN emblem on the steering wheel!
C'mon man, that truck is red at heart!
Haha, ya dad had a bit of a sickness with JD accessories. Stickers, steering wheel cover, floor mats, mud flaps, tool box.. i can tell you this though each piece isnt a cheap china deal, theyre nice, thick heavy duty stuff thats going to stay lookin nice.
I have to say it... but when it comes to tractors... JD>IH I would take a 40-60 series Deere over ANY other tractor, including thier POS newer ones.
Got my up-pipe leak sealed and turned up the pump, got a solid 4 flats out of it. It had been turned up by the ATS installer as well as the torque screw it seems. Im going to turn the torque screw back down some, this thing will pour smoke now. However im still only seeing 10lbs of boost. I suppose it is possible that i have a boost leak, i will investigate there. It more or less cleans up the smoke around 2500 rpms, still hazes pretty good. EGTs will definately get hot now, being empty however i tach out before the gauge will go over 1100, i think it reads slowish, i do not have the probe far enough into the minifold, but theres nothing i can do for it at present. Had to use a 1/4 x 1/8 adapter so just the tip of the probe is barely in the pipe is my guess, depending on how thick the cast is. When letting off the throttle it drops pretty quick so my thinking is its good enough to rely on.
Heres the tricky part. It really doesnt seem like i have any more power. Still feels about the same. My only guess is the pump needs retarded some. The alignment mark is litterally just a hair to the advanced side, almost looks lined up. Will play with it and report back.
4 gauge A-pillar pod showed up today. Its a little thinner than the Autometer one, but id say its a better piece at first glance. Less flashing, better finish and doesnt have the bow to it the autometer had.
The haze could be mostly from timing IMO. Even at 10psi, it should still pull decently. The fact that it doesn't leads me to think that. Also timing sometimes will have lower boost numbers. I bet if its closer to what it should be, your boost will probably go up.
Okay turned down the torque screw a bit and retarded the timing. Didnt count anyting on the torque screw just turned it in a ways. For the retarding, i went about a nickle width, its just barely on the left side of the line now.
First impression driving, definately less of a smokey pig down low, power feels about the same. Boost comes in a little sooner and faster, also seems like it has a little more top end.
Turning in the torque screw made the sticking metering valve issue alot better, it seemed even worse after turning up the max fuel, now it might be a little better than before.. still annoying. Anyone got a fix? Always gets a dose of diesel kleen with fuel ups.
Has good power, but not quite where it should be. Pump and sticks do have 245k on them.. might be what it is.
i don't even remember the last time i saw a 7th gen on the road.it happens, but they sure are scarce.shoot, the 8th's are very thin and the 9th's still hanging on "ok".it wont be much longer.many early super duty's looking like they belong crushed rather than driven.por-15 and paint.por-15 and paint.did i mention por-15 and paint if you wanna keep 'em?
