It seems when I get up to speed that my heater puts out hot air as if I turned it on. I know the system works off vacuum to some degree but could someone educate me about what typically goes wrong with these? I'd like to be able to control when the hot air comes out. Any diagrams of the system might help
Here's a diagram, I think its for a 84 to 91 setup but should be close to same for the 92's
Most temp blend doors are cable controlled from 91 down, not sure of the 92 up trucks. Got to check the 92 F150 I just pulled the engine from.
Probably the cable is not adjusted right or the foam temp blend door is munged up. The other issue is the heater core is hot all the time with coolant flowing through it. The later ones are also cable controlled.
You should be able to follow the cable from the control to the top of the air box, to the left of the heater core, and feel it the control is operating the blend door lever.
You may have some debris in the air box blocking the blend door. You can get at it by pulling the heater core out.
